We are looking for a dedicated and friendly Optometric Assistant or Licensed Optician to join our small family oriented boutique optometry clinic and medspa in Midhurst, Ontario (just outside of Barrie, Ontario)

Experience:
A post-secondary education
Minimum of two years’ experience working in an optometry/optical setting.
Certification as a CCOA is an asset / Certification of Licensed Optician required
Previous retail experience is an asset.
Responsibilities and Duties may include but are not limited to:
Fitting and selling glasses, by listening to patients’ needs so that they can see and look their best
Greet patients and clients and create a warm welcoming environment
Assist patients with frame selection, styling, fitting, lens selection based on their prescription, facial characteristics, aesthetic and lifestyle needs.
Accurately fit and take measurements and ensure that finished eyewear meets high optical standards and client requirements
Repairing, adjusting and troubleshooting patient issues and concerns and provide great after care service
Helping with patient education on eye wear – reviewing the features and benefits of frame and lens options and make recommendations based on their work or lifestyle needs
Ordering frames from manufacturers and reps and handling warranties
Assist with managing inventory to ensure products are current and reflective of our brand needs
Stay up to date on product knowledge in the optical industry and be knowledgeable about fashion trends in eyewear
Create visually appealing merchandising displays
Invoicing sales from optical, exams and other products and services, and performing insurance billing and collecting payment
Assisting the doctor with pre-testing and ancillary testing of patients
Perform general office/administrative duties as well such as booking appointments, reminders and recalls
Assist with clinic social media
Perform light cleaning and maintain a clean, organized workspace
Requirements
Proficient writing and communication skills
Attention to detail, excellent time management skills
Proficient computer skills (emails, EMR, documents, spreadsheets etc)
Creative and self-motivated
You will be working shifts from
Monday to Friday (1-2 evenings/ per week)
Approximately 30-35 hours per week
Range $20-$26 /hour – Wages commensurate with experience.
