Associate Optometrist Opportunity in Ancaster

Associate Optometrist position available at our full scope Optometry practice.

Ancaster Eye Clinic is located in the Hamilton-area small town of Ancaster, Ontario. Ancaster is a picturesque community with hiking trails, waterfalls, small shops and restaurants. We are a family owned private practice and have been serving our community with full scope eye care since 1980.

At Ancaster Eye Clinic we are proud to provide top quality eye care. Our practice features ocular health diagnostic equipment such as a Humphry VF and Topcon OCT, as well as a dry eye specialty clinic offering iLux treatments and meibography. We are a close knit group of 5 ODs and 12 staff members who work together collaboratively to care for our diverse patient base. We are proud members of Eye Recommend as well as the Ontario Association of Optometrists.

We seek a friendly, motivated, enthusiastic Optometrist. The position is available part time (1-3 days per week) starting in March, becoming a full time opportunity starting in the Summer. We enjoy evenings, Sundays, and all long weekends off. Successful applicants will be available for 2-4 weekdays per week as well as Saturday mornings. Schedule is flexible based on applicant’s availability. Compensation will be calculated as a percentage of gross revenue, details can be discussed in person.

Valid license to practice Optometry in Ontario is required.

Job Overview
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages, including children and seniors. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Optometrist will utilize their expertise in optical health to diagnose and treat various visual disorders, ensuring the highest level of care for our patients.

Duties
Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess vision and detect eye diseases.
Prescribe corrective lenses and other visual aids as needed.
Provide patient education on eye health, treatment options, and preventive care.
Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Stay updated on advancements in optometry and incorporate new techniques into practice.
Engage in sales of optical products and services, enhancing the overall patient experience.

Experience
Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
Valid license to practice Optometry in Ontario.
Experience in patient care, particularly with senior care and pediatrics, is preferred.
Familiarity with medical terminology and optical equipment is essential.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with patients are crucial for success in this role.
