The School of Optometry & Vision Science at the University of Waterloo is seeking outstanding scholars and researchers for a full-time, regular tenure stream faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of mechanisms of retinal function and/or disease with electrophysiology experience in preclinical models with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarship and teaching, and develop a robust, externally funded research program that supports graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. Evidence of an actively developing research program is required with preference given to those with both a theoretical and experimental basis that straddles disciplinary boundaries. Duties include research, teaching and service. Teaching in the optometry professional program and/or vision science graduate program, and supervision of graduate students are expected. Evidence of teaching excellence, innovation and flexibility in teaching modality will be highly valued. The ability to develop and teach an array of traditional in-person and on-line courses for a diverse student body is expected.

Successful candidates are expected to have a PhD or equivalent terminal degree.
The salary range of this position at the Assistant Clinical Professor rank is $105,000 to $125,000 per year commensurate with experience and qualifications. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
